Lay Leader News + Blog

Wendy Clark,
Western Waters District Lay Leader

Greetings Everyone.

A little bit about me...born and raised in Connecticut, moved to Grandville MI when I was 15 years old, and I've been a Methodist/United Methodist my entire life. My husband Al and I live on the NE side of Grand Rapids and have been members of Grand Rapids Aldersgate since about 1975.  We have three children (Darrin, Ryan, and Laura; and their spouses Amanda, Beth, and Matt) and 4 grandchildren (Noah, Isabella, Sawyer, and Kasen).

I am a retired Registered Nurse with most of my nursing career in Pediatrics.  Around 1996 I was introduced to Parish Nursing or today it is called Faith Community Nurse.  That was by far my favorite job...working for a church (GR Aldersgate, GR First, and Wyoming Park) assisting the congregation in navigating healthcare, assisting the pastors with pastoral care, and helping to provide an understanding of wholistic health - the care of body, mind, spirit, and relationships (relationships with others and with God).  And yes, we do spell wholistic with a "W '' to indicate whole/complete.

I currently serve on the Vision and Leadership Board and I am the Worship Coordinator at GR Aldersgate. I served on several West Michigan Conference committees and now look forward to serving as Western Waters District Lay Leader of the Michigan Conference.

Please let me know if you have questions about the role of the Local Church Lay Leader.

Blessings, Wendy Clark

God Nudges Blog Post 10-1-24
